RIP, Shadow

I just got word from my sister that they had to put their dog, Shadow, down today. He had bone cancer, and had hung in for several weeks, but the time had finally come to put him to rest. I expect he is now making acquaintance with several other doggy spirits, and will be having a wonderful time romping about with them, pain free and whole once again. RIP, Shadow.

On my end, I'm still feeling flu-ish, but a bit better yet again, so that is a good thing. I slept for most of the day, which I'm sure helped. When I got up, I had planned to have cheese and crackers for dinner, as I really didn't feel much like cooking. But then someone upstairs started cooking what smelled like pork chops. The scent was too tempting, so I ended up hauling a steak out of my freezer and roasting it. Had that, a baked potato, and made some Stove Top Stuffing - well, the generic equivalent - which I was suddenly craving. It was more work than I had planned on, but it was very enjoyable, and I am now sitting here with a carafe of tea and letting my supper settle.

I didn't take any more pictures today - mainly because I slept through most of it! But here are a couple of leftover shots from the other day for your viewing pleasure!

This is the lovely huge tree in our backyard. It's a beautiful tree, although I don't view it with the same enthusiasm in the summer when it's full of wasps...

The neighbours across the back alley have these lovely trees. The leafless ones are absolutely stunning when in full leaf, however, the twits took out some of the trees, so they aren't nearly as gorgeous as they used to be. I really have to wonder what some people are thinking, sometimes... I considered that the trees they took out may have been diseased, but that didn't make sense - the others would have been too, considering how close together they were planted. Ah well...

These are two gorgeous trees a couple of doors down from us. They can be seen over the top of our fence. I am waiting for the perfect night shot - with the full moon peeking over them. They look awesome then, but of course I never have a camera with me at those times! Now I'll take this wee digital out with me more often, so I'll be able to catch that spectacle next time it occurs.

Well, I think that's about it for picture, folks! I guess I'll have to get out there and start snapping some more! I have to say, I much prefer 35mm, but the great thing about digital is that I don't have to wait to have film developed, nor do I have to pay to have film developed! For snapshots and such, I am very much liking the world of digital cameras!

Oooh, I will leave you with this rather amusing link that a friend of mine sent me! And now I shall wander off to buy my pirate outfit...

Wait for me, I'm coming too. I want to dress up exactly like Johnny Depp in Black Pearl.

And I want Mr. Depp to dress me. "Arrrr, wench!"

That was sad news about Shadow. Geez that's 3 dogs in just as many years that they had to put down, no?

And that smell cooking up here yesterday was hubby cooking steaks his sister gave him. Smelled good huh?

Thank you, Dr. Howdy. I certainly never thought of it as riveting - just my little bit of rambling! Glad you enjoyed it!

Now that IS hilarious, because as he was cooking them (and tasting them) he said how he doesn't like beef as much as pork, and wished they were pork chops!!!

You must be psycho.....er, I mean psychic. :)
