Winter Weirdness

Winter certainly did come in with a bang. As I noted in the previous post, we did get snow. We got quite a bit more snow after I'd posted. It continued to snow quite steadily well into the night, and the wee hours of the morning. I headed out around midnight and took a few pictures to share with a couple of friends in snow-less climes. As you can see from the first picture, it was snowing quite heavily - it was still doing so when I went to bed a couple of hours later. The second picture shows how much snow had piled up on the barbecue cover, so it gives you some idea of how much was accumulating. I can tell you there was even more of that by the time I had to clear the car off the next morning!

Let It Snow

Buried Barbecue

I wandered out with the dogs the next morning, to be greeted by a very weird sight. The Chokecherry tree still had most of its leaves, but during the wee hours of the morning a very strong wind had swept through, resulting in a lot of leaves being scattered all over the yard - on top of the snow. It was quite strange to see, and since the tree still has quite a few leaves on it, I suspect we'll have even more leaves scattered around soon.

Leaf-Covered Snow

I had to get a picture of the plant pot that sits on the deck. The pot is a fair size, and used to be filled with sand and used as an ashtray. It's been empty for quite some time though, so it really is filled with snow.

Pot O' Snow

I'm still not thrilled with all this white shit, but as there's nothing I can do about it I will head out this week and see what kind of pictures I can shoot. I might as well use this winter weather to my advantage, as it will make for some beautiful shots. I'm not quite sure where I'm going to go, although I do plan on heading to my favourite cemetery. I do have to head to the vet tomorrow, which is out of town, so perhaps I'll take the camera along, as there may be some interesting opportunities out in the countryside.

I've updated the Echoes In Time site again, this time adding a winter section - Winter Frost. So far it's just a few snapshots that I've taken, including the ones I've posted here. There are a few leaf pictures that I'm pleased with, but I'm hoping to add to that album with whatever I get this week.

Now I am off to bed, so I shall wish you all a good night and pleasant dreams!

Nooooooooooooooooooo!

Winter's Here!

It had to come sometime, I suppose, but I really wish it had held off for at least another week or so. Partly because I was hoping there would be no snow for Hallowe'en, and partly because I'm on holidays, and I would have really liked to have not seen any snow during my vacation! It started snowing last night, and is still snowing quite steadily this afternoon, with no signs of letting up anytime soon. Grrrrrrrrrrr...

I'm a bit cranky anyhow, as I ended up being sick for the first week of my vacation, so I didn't get to head out and do some of the photography I was planning on. I'm planning on heading out next week, but it would be nice to not have snow to contend with. However, I'll have to make the best of what I'm given, and I have to admit that I should get some pretty pictures, if there is still snow kicking about.

Speaking of which, I did get some pictures in the back yard over the last couple of days. I've updated the Echoes In Time site with them, but I'll post a couple here for you.

This first one is a bit of a poser for you - can you tell what it is? I have posted that answer on the Echoes In Time site, so don't go look there first! Now, no cheating, and take a guess at what this could be:

Mystery Photo!

Here's another picture I rather liked. I don't normally go for these type of pictures, but the arrangement and colour caught my eye, and I decided to take a shot and see how it turned out. I'm quite pleased with the result!

Rusty Wheels

One more - taken before the snow fell. This little guy is buried under quite a bit of snow at the moment:

Dewy Leaf

That's it for now! If you want to see the rest, you can wander over to the site and take a look. The new additions are all at the end of the Miscellaneous section, with the exception of the Dewy Leaf one, which is under Flora. However, since you've already seen it, you don't really need to look there. Unless of course you want to see a larger version of it.

With the weather being the way it is today, I'm thinking it's time to go curl up on the bed with the girls. I'll read a bit, and perhaps even have a wee nap. So I shall wish you all a good day, and a pleasant rest of the weekend!
