Winter Weirdness

Winter certainly did come in with a bang. As I noted in the previous post, we did get snow. We got quite a bit more snow after I'd posted. It continued to snow quite steadily well into the night, and the wee hours of the morning. I headed out around midnight and took a few pictures to share with a couple of friends in snow-less climes. As you can see from the first picture, it was snowing quite heavily - it was still doing so when I went to bed a couple of hours later. The second picture shows how much snow had piled up on the barbecue cover, so it gives you some idea of how much was accumulating. I can tell you there was even more of that by the time I had to clear the car off the next morning!

Let It Snow

Buried Barbecue

I wandered out with the dogs the next morning, to be greeted by a very weird sight. The Chokecherry tree still had most of its leaves, but during the wee hours of the morning a very strong wind had swept through, resulting in a lot of leaves being scattered all over the yard - on top of the snow. It was quite strange to see, and since the tree still has quite a few leaves on it, I suspect we'll have even more leaves scattered around soon.

Leaf-Covered Snow

I had to get a picture of the plant pot that sits on the deck. The pot is a fair size, and used to be filled with sand and used as an ashtray. It's been empty for quite some time though, so it really is filled with snow.

Pot O' Snow

I'm still not thrilled with all this white shit, but as there's nothing I can do about it I will head out this week and see what kind of pictures I can shoot. I might as well use this winter weather to my advantage, as it will make for some beautiful shots. I'm not quite sure where I'm going to go, although I do plan on heading to my favourite cemetery. I do have to head to the vet tomorrow, which is out of town, so perhaps I'll take the camera along, as there may be some interesting opportunities out in the countryside.

I've updated the Echoes In Time site again, this time adding a winter section - Winter Frost. So far it's just a few snapshots that I've taken, including the ones I've posted here. There are a few leaf pictures that I'm pleased with, but I'm hoping to add to that album with whatever I get this week.

Now I am off to bed, so I shall wish you all a good night and pleasant dreams!

Yes, it's been pretty nippy lately, although I'll take this over the summer heat any day!

Hey Linda! No, I ended up with a very nasty virus, which I'm still fighting the tail end of, so I didn't have the Hallowe'en bash. Hopefully next year!

I wouldn't mind if the snow melted here, but so far it's still too chilly for that. Ugh!

Take care! Love you too!
